Build a Buyer Question Map for B2B SaaS Content

A 500-keyword spreadsheet doesn’t tell you what to build. A buyer question map does: real questions from search, sales, support and reviews, grouped and tagged, with the best asset and the job it should do. AI makes the clustering fast; you make the decisions.

What is a buyer question map?

A list of the questions buyers ask while researching and buying, gathered from Search Console, sales calls, support tickets, reviews and community threads, clustered by AI and tagged so you can decide what to build. It replaces topic brainstorming with demand you can see.

What should each question be tagged with?

  • Ideal customer and buyer role.
  • Awareness stage.
  • Search intent.
  • Commercial relevance.
  • Existing content that answers it.
  • Evidence needed to answer it well.
  • Best format.
  • Primary call to action.
  • Internal links.
  • Whether it serves search, AI discovery, sales or all three.

Why it works: each question has a best asset and a job, and gaps are obvious at a glance. Fictional company and numbers.

How do you avoid thin, near-duplicate pages?

Group variations of the same question into one strong page. Google’s spam policies name ‘using generative AI tools or other similar tools to generate many pages without adding value for users’ as scaled content abuse (Google’s spam policies). Keyword research methods are in SaaS keyword research.

Founder rule

Map questions, then decide.

Every question gets a decision: build, improve or skip. A list without decisions is just a list.

How do you use the map?

Review it quarterly. Build the highest-value gaps first, improve partial answers, and skip low-relevance questions. Questions about objections feed the objection library; role-specific questions feed persona content paths; and existing pages that partly answer a question go into the refresh system.

Frequently asked questions

What is a buyer question map?

A tagged list of real buyer questions, grouped by AI, with the best asset and job for each.

Where do buyer questions come from?

Search Console, sales calls, support tickets, reviews, community threads and competitor pages.

How is a question map different from keyword research?

It starts from real questions across channels and ends with build, improve or skip decisions.

Can AI cluster search queries and questions?

Yes. It’s fast at grouping similar questions; humans decide what to build.

Should I make a page for each keyword?

No. Group variations into one strong page; mass near-duplicate pages can count as scaled content abuse.

How often should I update the map?

Quarterly, or after major product, pricing or market changes.
