What is AI search visibility?

AI search visibility is whether your company is named, cited and described correctly when buyers ask AI assistants about your category. For B2B SaaS it matters most at the shortlist and comparison stage, where answers name three or four vendors and cite the pages they relied on.

Keyword research, technical SEO and link building are covered in the SEO for SaaS guide. This guide covers where those foundations change what AI answers say, and the work that is specific to AI search.

What does an AI answer look like for a software buyer?

A typical answer to a shortlist prompt names three or four vendors, gives a line on price and fit for each, and lists the pages it relied on. The mock-up below uses a realistic buyer prompt and shows which source earned the citation, and why a competitor’s page did not.

We’re a 25-person B2B SaaS company on HubSpot. Which help desk tools work best for a 4-person support team, and what do they cost?

For a small support team on HubSpot, three tools come up most often: Fabrikam Desk, Litware Help and HubSpot’s own help desk 1. Fabrikam Desk lists a native two-way HubSpot sync on every plan and costs $29 per agent per month, so four agents run about $116 a month 2.

Litware Help is cheaper to start but syncs with HubSpot through a paid add-on 1. Reviewers on a support-team forum say setup takes about a day for either tool 3.

What does the data say?

Survey and study data point the same way: more B2B software research now starts in AI answers, those answers change which vendors make the shortlist, and fewer searches end in a click to any website. The figures below are dated and sourced; treat them as direction, not a forecast for your category.

How often and how accurately large language model assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini mention and cite your company.
