Reddit Max Campaigns: Should B2B Use Them?

Max campaigns are Reddit’s automated campaign type. They choose targeting, creative, placements and budget allocation within limits you set. Reddit opened them to all advertisers in September 2026. They work best with good conversion data and clear guardrails.

What are Reddit Max campaigns?

An automated campaign type for traffic and conversion goals. When should B2B advertisers use Max?

When conversion tracking is reliable and you have enough conversions for the system to learn, and when your conversion event is close to revenue, such as a qualified lead or trial start rather than a page view. For a first test with a narrow audience, standard campaigns teach you more about which communities work; see Reddit Ads targeting.

What guardrails should you set?

  • The right conversion event: optimize for qualified leads or trials, not clicks. See conversion tracking.
  • Exclusions: current customers and irrelevant geographies.
  • Creative you are happy to run anywhere: Max decides where it appears.
  • Budget limits: a fixed test budget and a review date.
  • Asset groups: separate product lines so results stay readable.

The same principles apply to other platforms’ automation, such as Search versus Performance Max.

How should you test Max?

Run Max alongside a standard campaign with the same budget, conversion event and creative for four to six weeks, and compare cost per qualified lead and pipeline. Budget it as in Reddit Ads cost.

Founder rule

Feed automation the right goal.

Max optimizes for whatever you tell it. Point it at qualified leads, not clicks or page views.

What should you do first?

  1. Confirm the pixel and Conversions API track qualified leads.
  2. Collect conversions with a standard campaign first.
  3. Launch Max with exclusions and asset groups.
  4. Compare against standard on pipeline.
  5. Read the persona reports for creative and targeting ideas.
