Should you build on Framer or WordPress?

Build on Framer when the site is mainly product, pricing and campaign pages, a designer runs it and you publish a few posts a month. Build on WordPress when you will publish many posts, need plugins for memberships, forms, CRM or search, or want to own and move the site. Framer trades flexibility for almost no maintenance.

How much do you need to publish?

Framer Pro allows 150 pages, 10 CMS collections and 2,500 CMS items, according to Framer’s pricing page on October 5, 2026. That is enough for most early SaaS sites. A content program publishing three posts a week, plus case studies and integration pages, can approach the limit in two to three years. WordPress has no practical limit.

If content will drive growth, read the SEO capabilities in the SEO comparison before choosing.

Which handles integrations better?

WordPress, by a wide margin. Plugins cover forms, CRM sync, memberships, search, multilingual, ecommerce and more, and developers can write custom ones. Framer supports native forms, embeds, a plugin marketplace and custom code components, which covers most marketing sites but not complex logic.

  • CRM forms: both work; WordPress has more native connectors.
  • Gated content or memberships: WordPress plugins; Framer needs an external tool.
  • Site search across many posts: WordPress plugins; check Framer’s current search features.
  • Custom calculators or tools: Framer code components or embeds; WordPress custom blocks.

How much upkeep does each need?

Framer needs almost none: hosting, security patches and performance are the platform’s job. Self-hosted WordPress needs core, theme and plugin updates, backups and monitoring, which usually means a few hours a month or a maintenance retainer. Managed WordPress hosting and WordPress.com reduce that work for a higher plan price.

Founder rule

Buy maintenance with money or with hours.

Framer charges for upkeep in its plan. WordPress charges in time. Decide which your team has more of.

What are the platform constraints?

Framer’s main constraint is ownership. It states that it does not offer HTML export for self-hosting, so leaving means rebuilding. WordPress’s main constraint is effort: flexibility comes with updates and plugin choices that can slow a site. WordPress.com sits in between, with paid plans from $4 a month billed yearly that include plugin installation, per WordPress.com pricing.
